How to File a Claim for Re-Inclusion After SIR Deletion

A re-inclusion matter concerns a person whose name does not appear in the relevant electoral roll. The appropriate claim, application or representation depends on the reason for omission, the revision stage and whether an order has already been passed.

1. Verify the Omission

Check the current roll and retain the result. Where possible, obtain the recorded reason for omission or deletion from the relevant electoral authority. Do not assume that a correction form is appropriate when the entry is absent.

2. Identify the Current Procedure

Form 6 is used for new voter registration and inclusion in an electoral roll. Form 7 is used for objection or deletion matters, and Form 8 is used for shifting residence, correcting entries in an existing electoral roll, replacing an EPIC, or marking a person as a person with disability. A deletion during SIR does not automatically make Form 6 the correct procedure; the appropriate claim, application, representation or statutory appeal depends on the person’s legal and factual status and any decision already made.

3. Prepare the Claim Record

• EPIC details and relevant electoral-roll extracts.
• Identity and residence evidence relevant to the reason for omission.
• Any notice, verification record, rejection or deletion order.
• A concise written explanation of the requested re-inclusion.
• Prior acknowledgements and correspondence.

4. Submit and Preserve Proof

Use an officially available channel and keep an exact copy, acknowledgement and reference number. If a written representation accompanies the prescribed form, ensure that it is consistent with the form and supporting records.

5. Attend Verification or Hearing

Respond to notices, attend when required and keep a record of documents produced. If a BLO report or verification entry appears incorrect, raise the issue with supporting material through the appropriate authority.

6. Track the Decision

Check the operative electoral roll and obtain any written decision. A submitted or approved status should not be treated as a substitute for confirming the final roll entry.

If the Claim Is Rejected

Review the reasons, evidence considered and opportunity to respond. Depending on the governing procedure, a representation, fresh application, statutory appeal or other remedy may be available. Court proceedings require a separate assessment of alternative remedies and maintainability.
