Documents Required for Voter List Correction During SIR in West Bengal (2026 Guide)

Documents for Voter-List Correction and Restoration During SIR

The correct documents depend on whether the matter concerns correction of an existing entry, inclusion or re-inclusion, an objection, verification, or an appeal. No single checklist applies to every voter.

Core Electoral Records

  • EPIC or voter-ID details.
  • The relevant current and earlier electoral-roll extracts, where available.
  • Application, claim, objection or appeal acknowledgements.
  • Any deletion, objection, verification, hearing or rejection notice.
  • ERO orders, available BLO records and appellate orders.

Identity and Name Records

Use reliable records that explain the identity or name requested. Depending on the applicable official instructions, these may include government identity records, birth or educational records, passport records, or other accepted material. Where spellings differ, consider whether an explanatory record is needed.

Residence Records

Residence evidence may be relevant where deletion or non-verification concerns an address or migration assumption. Use documents accepted under the current procedure and covering the relevant period. A document’s usefulness depends on what it proves, not merely on how many documents are filed.

Age or Eligibility Records

Age or citizenship-related records may be relevant for new inclusion or where eligibility has been questioned. They should be provided only where relevant and lawfully required.

Records for Appeals or Further Proceedings

  • The complete adverse order and proof of when it was received.
  • Documents previously submitted.
  • Hearing notices, written submissions and correspondence.
  • Evidence allegedly overlooked or a record of any procedural irregularity.
  • Proof of service and follow-up where a favorable direction has not been implemented.

Practical Document Checks

  • Use consistent names, dates and addresses or explain material differences.
  • Keep readable copies and preserve originals safely.
  • Retain submission receipts, reference numbers and screenshots.
  • Do not assume Aadhaar or any single document is universally mandatory.
  • Do not submit altered, incomplete or irrelevant records.

If Documents Are Rejected

Ask for the recorded reason and check whether another accepted document, clarification, representation or appellate remedy is available. The proper next step depends on the applicable rules and stage of proceedings.

For procedure, see the restoration guide and the name-restoration guidance.

Disclaimer: This is a preparation checklist, not an exhaustive list of documents required in every case. Confirm current official requirements.
